Little Vignette's of Life

I do my best to be a story teller. My passion is to document and photograph the life of those around me.
I hope you enjoy these little vignettes and adventures here in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Geode Winery Wedding

Here she is! Our Geode Wedding! A wedding we created for the bride and groom who want an intimate, unique and extravagant wedding.

Our geode wedding was created inside The Skeleton Root for 20-30 of our couples closest friends and family. Although our venue has a modern feel, we had plenty of earthy pieces to tie in our geode inspiration. Scattered throughout our venue were stones, crystals, florals, and wine; most everything in their raw elements.

None of this could have been accomplished without killer wedding team. Other than the initial idea, I had very little to do with day of styling. I gave vendors a few sentences on the 'earthy modern' feel I wanted to convey and a color schemes and they ALL knocked it out of the park! This is the EXACT thing you want from any wedding vendor. A big thanks to Genesis for snapping some super fun 'Behind the Scenes' photos for us, I plan to spill my bts-planing secrets here soon.

So take a seat and please enjoy my first ever editorial shoot. Consider this a visual taste test with these high-end Cincinnati wedding vendors. Enjoy!

Let's dive in!

ALBA Beauty did a flawless job styling our bride. We wanted to keep her makeup soft and dewy and her hair tossed and wavy. Ashley was flawless, literally without flaw.

We let our couple get relax and get a few last snuggles in before getting ready for their ceremony! An intimate wedding like this doesn't call for a big reveal or a dramatic entrance. We wanted our bride and groom to make as many memories together as possible.  The Skeleton Root's interior keeps everyone relaxed and at ease.

We had our couple stayed together while they got ready. On a day where you are celebrating your love why would you separate for most of the day? Your favorite moments are going to involve both of you so might as well get as many of those moments as you can. AND the photos of our groom helping our bride into her dress are some of my favorite photos! How dreamy are these images?!

Oh, this is one polished bride and groom. You can find our crystal Hayley Paige gown at Amanda's Hyde Park Bridal. You will feel like an absolute queen when you walk into her bridal boutique, she knows how to spoil her brides! Jayson from Geno's Tux Plus hooked our groom up with a sleek, slim fit navy suit. Since I know very little about menswear, Jayson had to walk we through the whole selection process. All I knew was that I wanted slim and navy and Jayson took perfect care of me. I loved the suit and it fit perfectly. Yulia from Gia and the Blooms had just the right size bouquet and boutonniere for our styling.

Oh, this ceremony. So magical! Queen City Vignette knocked it out of the park with venue styling. Stunning copper chairs and thin geometric candle accents were the perfect compliment to the barrel room. Gia and the Blooms constructed a lovely floral circle to keep from overshadowing the couple.

Now it's time to celebrate! And let's talk about these table setting!
Our hand selected crystal for guests favors and name plates by Olive Paper Co... flawless. Having hand created name plates gives guests something custom they can keep forever.  I went to a local crystal dealer , The Crystal Guy,  and hand selected each geode and raw crystal for our bride's guests. This is one benefit we when hosting a smaller, intimate wedding. You get to spend a little bit of time taking care of the most cherished people in your lives. No need to bring in additional tables and chairs, The Skeleton Root already has their venue covered. Tables-cape design was constructed by the female masterminds at Queen City Vignette and Florals by GIA and the Blooms.

Too often I see the sweetheart table have less glam than the guests tables. We did not want that for this wedding. Queen City Vignette brought in their own hairpin-legged table and filled it with just the right amount of decor. I LOVED that they decided to make it a two tier tables-cape with their gold pillars. Stunning!

Just when you thought this couldn't get any lovelier ... there's this reception! Styled by Queen City Vignette, Florals by Gia and the Blooms and hand crafted signs by Olive Paper Co.  An intimate weddings doesn't call for a DJ. Instead our couple brought a records player along with a crate of their favorite records. Their music was open for guests to browse and play. A really beautiful way to keep your wedding interactive for guests.

Our turn table setup was provided by Plaid Room Records and the crate of records is filled with Colemine Records albums, our couple's favorite label ... which so happens to be local! The vintage-chic hairpin leg bar top table was brought in by Queen City Vignette.

Bonus Info: Durand Jones and the Indications is a must hear! Go peep them, here's a quick link to their album on Spotify.

Let's break down the wedding and look at these killer details.
Brendon Faye & Ariel Pearson, the coolest fictitious couple I know! China from Olive Paper Co. pieced together the loveliest wedding suite for our wedding. Her designs and hand lettering tie in the entire wedding beautifully. China was easy to work with, quick to reply to my thousands of emails and had a beautiful vision for our wedding concept. Also, her instagram will give you all the visual good vibes you will every need.

Yuliya from Gia and the Blooms brought in just the right amount of florals. Every wedding needs florals, even if it's a geode inspired wedding. Yuliya's greenery flowed through the entire ceremony and reception and her bridal flowers were just the right size. She is a floral genuis!

Fun Fact: 'Brendon' is my man's middle name & 'Ariel' is my middle name. 'Pearson' is my honorary SIL's maiden name. 'Judah' and 'Owen' is are the names of two of my nephews. 'Josie' and 'June' are the names of my bonus nieces. And I think it's fair to assume we all know where 'Iris' comes from. I plan to sneak in personal touches in every editorial shoot I do.

Shiny details are my absolute favorite! You can find our crystal Hayley Paige gown and our fitted lace gown Calla Blanche at Amanda's Hyde Park Bridal. You will feel like an absolute queen when you walk into her bridal boutique, she knows how to spoil her brides!

These custom jewelry pieces , however, you wont be able to find in a store. Power-couple Brittany and Robert create custom pieces of jewelry for each of their clients through their business Gem Steady. You will never see another bride wearing your same wedding pieces. One. Of. A. Kind. People! If anything, you should follow their Facebook and Instagram account. Their posts are so entertaining and keep me aligned with those good vibes.

You know I can't leave you without some extra "Behind the Scenes" moments. Coming later is I plan to share my planning process, motivation behind this shoot and some fun business lessons I learned along the way! And if you've made it this far in the post you get this top secret little nugget: Minimalistic Spring Editorial Shoot coming soon in May. Ah!

I want to give a special thanks to our bride and groom, Ashley & Elliott Jenk. They were a dream to work with and are the worlds cutest couple. David Baillee came to our shoot out of the kindness of his heart to be our officiant. It was nice having a real couple and one of their friends be apart of this shoot.

Lastly I want to end by thanking my two favorite people on this planet; Iris and Terry.
Terry, you're the real MVP and everybody knows it. Irie girl, one of these times I'll let you be the flower girl... I promise.
